Five and just wanting to be loved,

She crawls upon her daddies knee.

He pushes her away; says "not now",

The hurt he caused he didn't see.

Ten and just wanting someone to care,

She asks her mom to help with her math.

All she got was cursed and smacked,

Eventually becoming tired of this path.

Fifteen and knowing noone loves or cares,

She meets a boy and thinks he's the "one".

Someone who will finally care for her,

But all she got out of that was a son.

Twenty and trying to care for her boy,

Doing the best that she knows how.

She finds it hard to show affection,

Never knowing what true love is till now.
